Our day begins with an early departure from Germany to Salzburg Austria where we are booked on tours to visit the Bavarian Mountains, view the Eagle's Nest and tour the salt mines (Jim and Daniel) and the Sound of Music tour for Eve and me. After a few hours driving through the German countryside we arrive in Austria. We buy our vignette toll sticker for our car and are off to find a parking place in Salzburg. The park & ride lot is at the soccer stadium so there are plenty of spaces for us. We have no problems catching the bus which takes us directly to our meeting place in Mirabellplatz in Salzburg. Having some time before the tour leaves, we eat some lunch and find the park across the street. There is a huge old tree with great low limbs for sitting and climbing. The kids easily amuse themselves in the shade of this tree for the hour we spend relaxing and waiting. It's a hot and mostly sunny day today so the shady area with it's cool breezes was just perfect.

At 2:00pm we hop on our different buses and off we are for our adventures. Eve choses the best seats in the front of the bus so we have wonderful views. The tour takes us to many different places where the Sound of Music movie was filmed or which inspired locations in the movie. Eve and I enjoy the tour and visiting Salzburg and the lakes region. At the town where the wedding church is located, we see a wedding coming out of the church as we are going to visit inside. We have one hour to explore this little town so we visit the church, look at a souvenir shop, enjoy a banana split at a cafe and head quickly to the lake so Eve can dip her feet in the icy cold mountain water. We have to run quickly back to the bus to make sure we are not stranded in this little town. After the 4 hour tour we return to Salzburg where we meet up with Jim and Daniel. They report that they also enjoyed their tour and spent over an hour touring the salt mines where they had to dress in little mining outfits, slide down slides and ride a little train. They got little teeny tiny salt shakers as sounvenirs. Before we catch the bus to our car we head back to the Mirabell Gardens where we find some locations featured in the Do-Re-Mi sequence in the Sound of Music. We are amused by a dude in underwear in the Pegasus fountain taking euros from the bottom...he spends a lot of time doing this and actually is really in his underwear!!

Our drive to our next apartment home in Kaprun, Austria takes us through the mountains along rivers and beautiful views. We find our town and locate our apartment to settle in for the night. The views of the surrounding mountains from our 3rd floor windows are beautiful. Good night mountains.
