Where I stayed
We drove to Mount Cook village in the morning and walked along a track to Kea Point and The Blue lakes. En route we enjoyed spectacular views of mount Cook, Mount Sefton and Footstool. We also met a friendly German family. It was very hot and sunny but there was a pleasant breeze blowing especially at the top of the track. We managed to find some shelter in a hut to have our packed lunch.
Afterwards we drove along the unmade Hoover road for 8 km to see the Tasmin Glacier. We had to walk the last bit it was quite a steep climb but worth it. Dave said it had retreated quite a bit since his last visit 7 years ago. Dave had a bad migraine in the evening.
