Where I stayed
Packed and set off on highway 92. At Owaka we saw a teapot display before turning off to Jacks Bay to see Jacks blow hole. We went on unmade road for 9 km to Jacks bay, then took a walk to the blow hole. It should have taken 20 minutes but Dave did not recognise it as the route he took 7 years previously. The weather turned bad Laura waited whilst Dave pressed on to the blow hole. There was no spray as the sea was too low and not stormy enough. We got soaking wet on return to the car. We then drove back to highway 92 and went to Nugget Point. We saw Spoonbills, a sea lion and Dave saw one yellow eyed penguin from a bird hide. We then went to Kaka Point for lunch, a delicious triple decker toasted sandwich.
From highway 92 travelled to Baclutha, got gas and drove along highway 1 to Dunedin. Found our our motel booked in, and went out for delicious steak meal. Returned home and watched a video about Dunedin supplied by our motel, great info.
