Where I stayed
Drove on highway 92 to Lake Wilkie, walked through lush forest to the Lake which had no fish. Saw lots of dragonflies, ducks, birds and insects. The Lake was flat calm and looked black. From there the two places Dave wanted to go were closed, McLean Falls due to a land slip and Cathedral Caves due to erosion of cave floor making it unsafe. We instead went to Tautuku Bay, Laura looked for shells on the golden sands, sea very rough. The crest of the waves was blown up to look like a mist.
Along the coast we stopped at numerous view points. We then went to see three waterfalls named Purakaunia, Horseshoe and Matai Falls. All involved a walk in lush forest and we saw lots of birds. At Purakanui Falls we got back to our car to find two coach loads of school children ready to walk to the falls, that was lucky !!
We returned home did some chores and cooked spag bol.
