Where I stayed
Got up late, went into town and booked a guided boat trip to Ulva Island bird sanctuary. We caught a water taxi, on board were a newly wed New York couple. Matt our guide took us on various pathways, giving us the history of the island, vegetation and identifying the numerous bird calls. we were approached by many Stewart Island robins they showed no fear as there were now no predators on the island. We stirred up the earth and they fed on the grubs unearthed. We saw a Stewart Island Weka a flightless bird, South Island Saddleback, Tomtit, Brown creeper, Tui, Kaka, Bell bird and Redheaded Parakeets. We heard some bird calls but did not see them. Later went home and cooked a Spag bol.
