Flag of New Zealand  , South Island,
Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Got up, booked out and travelled to the Bluff, the most southerly part of South Island. Took photos of signpost to numerous countries in the world. Booked into ferry port, parked car and were told trip was rough so put our cases in a large bin which was covered in tarpaulin to be locked on the back of boat. Laura had taken her pills and I purchased ginger tablets. The boat was full, a school trip, locals, tourists and us. Boy was it rough, over 15 ft high waves, the skipper manoeuvring the boat to miss the worst!! Laura sat petrified and I sat looking at the horizon completely churned up. Lots of the school kids and other passengers were sea sick. It took one hour to arrive, what a great feeling to be on dry land!
Our hosts picked us up and took us to our studio flat. Fantastic place nestled in local shrubbery with Tui and Kaka in the trees. The worst for wear, we rested for a while before booking a meal in Church Hill and Oyster Bar for the evening, we then went food shopping and exploring the Oban town area. We had a lovely meal and went home to sleep and recover.
