It's been raining here in Metro Manila for the past three days. Of course, where there is rain there's traffic and going out is just something to think and rethink about doing.
I'm supposed to meet up with my friend, Illac for late lunch and he took me to Tiendecitas for some small merienda but we ended up indulging with ginataang kuhol (snail cooked in coconut milk), laing (taro leaves cooked in coconut milk), beef caldereta, papaitan (beef stomach cooked with bile) and rice. I showed him how to extract kuhol (it's more of sucking the snail) without messing up my fingers.
We finished off with a cup of madre cacao (hot chocolate) and flavored suman (rice cake).
I get to meet his girlfriend, Jill and then he took me back to my hotel because I have to meet with my brother and childhood friend, Ulysses, who is now a police superintendent. This is a record two dinner for me. My stomach has not yet digested the food I ate at Tiendecitas and here I am again filling up my stomach with slices of beef salpicao and a cup of Starbuck's cafe latte.
That was indeed a heavy, filling night.
