It's Charles and we are playing catch up on our blog updates.
We decided to spend a few days in Bocas del Toro, which is on Isla Colon in northeastern Panama. We took a bus and then a boat to get to the island. Most of the places to stay did not take reservations, so we made the trip up and found a hostel once we got there. We ended up at one of the most lively hostels, but it wasn't as crazy as we thought it might be.
During our stay we took several walks around the town. It had lots of bars, restaurants, and shops. We found a place that made great margaritas, so we went there a few times. The food and atmosphere were very pleasant. The one weird thing is that is doesn't really have beaches for swimming. There is one on the other side of the island, but it is far. It is actually closer and easier to head to beaches on some of the other islands, which is what we did one day. There is a separate blog about that.
Enjoy the pictures and thanks to Kevin and Jen for recommending that we visit Bocas.
