Canberra, Australia's capital; probably the most unique feature is that the central city is laid out in a circular road pattern. This makes getting lost quite achievable!
Canberra is, in the respect of night life and general vibrancy, very lack luster, but on the plus side it is extremely pleasant. Canberra is also home to some excellent museums (mostly free) with the Australian War Memorial, being second to none.
The Parliament House is also easy to access and well worth the visit. We were lucky enough to have Cathy Freeman in the house filming an electoral advertisement. Heather managed to cause a re shoot, by taking a photo at an inappropriate moment!!!
