I was in Normandy for the weekend on a bus tour organized through EDUCO, the program I'm here studying in Paris with :)   The trip would have been pretty cool except it was cold and raining the ENTIRE time...so, not so fun.  I now have a cold :(

-Visited the beaches of Normandy - they were really impressive.  We went to Omaha beach where the US troops invaded Normandy on Dday in World War 2.  There's a US memorial there so it's technically US soil.  It was really intense being in such a historically important place.  The cemetery at the memorial had grave stones that seemed to go on forever...it was moving to be in a place where so many people fought and died.  I, of course, collected sand because I'm weird and collect sand from beaches around the world and thought this would be a good one to add to the collection...no judgement please...

-Our tour was a bus tour so we spent about 14 hours on the stupid bus over the course of 2 days.  Not cool.  Plus our tour guide insisted on babbling on in French which was irritating when I was trying to sleep.  I'm getting quite good at tuning out French...hah

-Visited Mt Saint Michel: this commune built ON a rock island off the coast of Normandy.  They have some of the most extreme ocean tides in the world, so sometimes the water level is up to the base of the rock and other times it's surrounded my miles of quicksand...such a sweet defense system.

I uploaded some good pictures from the weekend :)

I'm currently still sick with my cold, and very much sleep-deprived so this is all for now!
