Taylor's parents took us into France today to go to the "Route des vins" (Wine Route) in Alsace! We drove on a windy road through endless vineyards and into tiny villages which hardly have roads wide enough to fit one car through! I've never seen anything like these vineyards! There are never-ending rolling hills coated with vineyards and speckles of quaint villages in between. Unbelievable. Not to mention most of these villages/buildings are from the 1500's! It was nice to use some French today, once in France people prefer to pretty much solely speak French...what else would you expect from the French?....
We tried some grapes and soaked in as much wine knowledge as possible. Apparently Alsace is the ONLY region in France that names its wines after the grape, and not the region. They're most famous for white wines and Crémant (basically Champagne that's not from Champagne region). So of course we went and tried some Crémant which was delicious =) Hoping I'll turn into a knowledgeable wine snob soon....
