Left Davis lock and bobbed along to Chaffys and then to Jones Falls. The trip down is probably the most spectacular scenery on the whole Rideau canal. the water is deep and clear and just begs for a stop and swim.

At Jones Falls we stopped for lunch at the Kennedy Hotel. The food was good and well priced. The hotel changed hands about a year ago and boy can you tell. Still a bit stuck in the 40's but at least the food has become edible.

After lunch we had a walk around an checked out the restored buildings and working blacksmiths shop. The blacksmiths shop had an apprentice working the forge at the time we visited and he was quite keen and interesting to talk with. Heather bought a souveier and we had a look through the catalogue of items they have made as custom orders in the past. Some of the stuff was pretty wild with iron wine bottle holders and mail boxes. Well worth the visit by it's self

Went for a swim and decided to stay for the night.

BBQ'd at the dock, fed the fish around the boat, wished I had a job as a lock keeper.

Next day set off back and overnight at the same spot at the provincial park.

The trip maybe can't compare with some of the other stuff on this site but all in all it was a superb way to spend a few days close to home and see things from a different point of view,
