To escape KL for a day I decided to head off to Melaka, which they take pride in saying its a UNESCO world heritage town so I figuered it'd be good. I travelled with someone from the hostel I was staying at and so that was good considering we needed to get a monorail, long bus and local bus to get there. With someone it's funny how hectic it is, on your own it can be stressful. The bus stations here are mental. So many different companies selling tickets to you and obviously looking foreign out here they just swarm my way. Long distance buses are good though. VIP. None of this megabus crap!

So I wandered around Melaka taking in the sights. It's had the Dutch, British and Portugese all here at some point and so parts felt very european. They offer rides around the town on a big bike with a seat (see photo) - they are quite possibly the campest thing you'll ever see but I bloody loved it! My tour guide was just delightful aswell. Equally mental. The bikes surprisingly had a cd player and some pretty impressive speakers so we were crusing to local Malay music. ROCK. ON. He also had a light switch thing with 5 buttons that all gave different noises. He'd drive up right behind people and then blast a war siren/fire alarm type noise at them to get out of the way. That's service for you! Bizzarely he took me into a stamp museum. You actually had to pay to get in but I get the impression he was the type to get away with things but just being dead nice. He said to the woman at the desk, you are my friend and also that I was his friend so we just marched right in. To see stamps. Lots of them. They were mainly foreign but I was like oh, and pointed and one that was british. It had Princess Diana on it. And he went.....ohhhhhh is this you?? Hahaha. Erm no? Like I say, bizzare.
Upon parting ways he said that I would come back to Melaka when I am married and visit him. Aye we'll see.....
