Wednesday 29th - Brownsover - Warwickshire
4 miles
0 locks
1 (short) tunnel

When we set off this morning, the sky was overcast and we were prepared for a wet trip. And we weren't disappointed, unfortunately. We got as far as Brownsover and decided we'd had enough of being wet and cold so stopped on the visitor moorings. The bank is very uneven here and there is a ledge below the water line but we only noticed that when boats went by so we stayed put. I was almost tempted to light a fire but the boat got a little warmer so did we and we managed without. The sun came out about 4 and the evening was quite pleasant. Let's hope for better tomorrow.

Thursday 30th - Barby
4 miles
3 locks

Will we moor up before the rain starts? Yes. Will I get the washing hung out to dry before the rain comes? Yes. Will the washing dry before the rain begins? Who knows? Probably not but you have to try. Why are we so obsessed with the weather? Probably because we have so much of it, all types, all year round.

We had a good journey up this morning though it was rather windy. (There I go again, more weather). We Had a long wait at Hillmorton for the second lock, about an hour. The single locks are in 3 pairs here but one of each pair was out of action. For some reason the first boat in the queue was very slow. Once we got into the second lock it was a lot quicker. We planned to moor about a mile from Braunston but the skies were heavy so we stopped as soon as we saw a suitable place. Of course we are not IN Barby but it is only a mile away across the fields. Braunston tomorrow.
