Monday - Nr Ansty - Warwickshire

13 miles
1 lock

Went to St Mary's Church in Atherstone yesterday. We really enjoyed the service and the fellowship afterwards. We have been through this town before but have never stopped. Glad we did this year though. It's a cosy, oldish sort of town. Wish I had looked around the town on Saturday then I would have discovered a good craft shop on the corner of Market Street. But it rained quite a bit during the afternoon which put me off.

Took a walk into Hartshill this morning in search of today's newspaper. It is a village but it looks like a town. There are remains of a 12C castle, built there because of the good views around. On a clear day the peaks of Derbyshire could be seen. The local church has a beautiful doorway.

As promised, today's weather was not too good. Could have been a lot worse. We had a few light showers on and off in the morning and an overcast sky all day. Just moored up before Ansty because we spotted a good space out of sound of the M69 which is less than a mile away.
