I dropped Luba off at the Savannah airport this morning at 5am.  It was hard to see her off.  We had the best time ever.

I had taken all side roads today all the way from Savannah.  Traveled almost 600 miles before stopping for the day.  I rode mostly on US 80 the entire day.  I love riding on two lane roads. Its a great way to see the country side.

Stopped in Montgomery, Al.  It just will not stop raining.  Need a break. Waiting for the weather to break!!! More later..

Once in Montgomery I decided to take a ride through town. I'm glad I did.  I visited the state capital and the church that Martin Luther King preached at.  More importantly that same church was the meeting point for many of the rallies in support of the the bus boycott which was sparked by Rosa Parks.  I also visited the Rosa Parks museum and the spot where the bus bench sat.

I also rode by the first white house the Jefferson Davis used.  By the way Davis is buried in the same cemetery where my family has a plot in Richmond.

After about three hours in Montgomery I headed west and stayed on US 80.  What an amazing ride that was.  I was pretty much in the middle of no where the entire day.  Somewhere between Dublin and Montgomery I was it by some angry storms.  The rain I can handle.  When the wind is blowing so hard that it pushing me into oncoming traffic I need to pull over.  I was on a two lane road at the time and didn't want to take any chances.  I pulled over into a closed gas station that had an over hang that looked like it was about to fall over.  At the moment it was all I had to take cover.

I rode until about 830pm local time and headed up getting a hotel in Meridian, Miss.  Its a tiny town with a lot of hotels. I took my time this morning.  In fact I slept in until about 10am.  After a 15 hour day I really needed the sleep.
