There is always something to do on the farm in Brody. When we arrived, our pizza oven had some damage from the winter, the outhouse was leaning like the Tower of Pisa, and the barn was full of debris left by the workers who put on the new roof. So, we set to work. I spent three solid days just sweeping and hauling out dirt from the barn in wheelbarrows, organizing tools, and moving and stacking bricks. Dan chipped away the broken tiles on the pizza oven, set new ones on and regrouted. The outhouse was another three day project, digging a one meter hole in rocky soil, covering the "stuff" in the old spot (yes, that was my job), cementing a brick base around the new hole, and then lifting the outhouse onto the new spot. There is always sawing to be done, weeding, watering, mowing, and harvesting, but that's all part of life on the farm.
The really fun part is being able to build the biggest bonfire you want, roast sausages, play ping pong, basketball, badminton, and petanque. Dan can build whatever he wants, benches, sculptures, and chaise lounges, as there is an endless supply of lumber and huge stones. The 250 acre park next to the property is a great place to escape, to walk, sit, bicycle, or play golf. Our own little Paradise here in the Czech Republic......
