I said I musta....I musta got looost
The south side of Chicago is not a good place to be, I'm not going to get into it, but it was...interesting.
We made a last minute decision to take lakeshore drive ,its a scenic route on the east side of the city along the waters edge. It was getting late and once we got off of 90, getting back on proved to be a nightmare, south-side is not a tourist friendly section, we got lots lots of looks and felt a little exposed.
We decided to forgo the lake-shore thing and get back onto route 90, it was impossible, we tried everything possible to get back on 90 west...forget it.
Headed back to the ramp that led to 90 east, figured we would go east, and then find a way to turn back and head west, it was getting late and the sun was going down...great!
The road conditions in this neck of Chicago suck, Huge potholes, Fault lines and frost heaves that could break axles. we traveled back and forth a few times before we were able to finally make it back to 90 west.
By this time it was getting dark and we still had to find a hotel. travailing around the city was not too much fun either, 70 mph, then bumper to bumper traffic sucked. My plate holder loosened up and we pulled over to make some repairs. Then headed back out towards O'hare Airport, finally found a hotel in Elgin at about 10 pm...this was a bad day
