Today we took every form of transport there was. Starting off with a bus ride to the Piazza Venzia (other wise known as the typewritter) then catching a taxi to the Catacombs. The roads are very bumpy in the bus as there are many cobblestones - but I must say the taxi ride was one of the scariest things we have done so far in Rome! The girls and I have pledged never to complain about Grants driving again! If you enjoy going fast, having a bumpy cobblestone ride and being sandwhiched between busses, then this is the ride for you!!
Thankfully we did arrive safely at the Saint Callisto catacombs. What an amazing place. Was an eerie feeling being underground with so many that had been burried there, or should I say persecuted for being Christian. In the Catacombs we visited, approaximately 200,000 where children.
After the Catacombs we decided we needed cheering up so we headed for the zoo, after taking a bus which ended up nowhere where we wanted to be we ventured onto the underground metro. We survived this also and after a long walk ( lost? us? Never!) we eventually found the zoo!
We again walked home after the zoo, but not before having one more last go on the sedways! Alot of fun but after my fall off the last one I was accused of being a wuss and going too slow.
To end our day we had dinner at our 'recovery bar' which is called "all brothers" and as the name states, is owned by brothers, 3 in fact. We all enjoyed a pasta for dinner and Grant and I enjoyed a 'grande' beer!
