Day 154 Tue 11th April 2006
Seeing Mum and Dad off, and the surprise attack!

I was up at 8.30am, after only two-and-a-half hours sleep, there was no electric and our new 5,000ltr water tank was empty, yep welcome home son! My dad went over to the main substation, which is in the next village, and slipped the guy 100Rs to put the electric back on for an hour or so. He put it on straight away and must have forgot to cut it off because it stayed on till 2.30pm, when we left for Jalandhar. That gave both mum and dad plenty of time to get ready.
I drove to Jalandhar, in a car my dad had been using, I think it was Gauthems. The first stop in Jalandhar was Jags house, I wanted to surprise him and my mum wanted to give them something for the wedding as they were not going not be there in person. When we got to Jags, he wasn't there so I used his mums phone to call him, I just asked when he was going to come home and told him to hurry up, I didn't say who it was and I could tell from his voice that he didn't really figure out it was me. he turned up about half an hour later, he had been out with his brother to a function and they had had a bit to drink, so things got a bit emotional when we met up. It was great seeing him and I knew I had made the right call by deciding to be here, I mean how could I have miss it! We stayed at Jags for a while and then made our way to Gauthems office. We chilled there for a while and then made our way to the train station for about 5.45pm, the train was on time and left at 6.05pm. It was really sad to see my folk go so soon, but I'm grateful for the time I did get to spend with them.

Gautham had come to the station with us, so we went back to the office for a while. I met Arun there and he told me that his mum had passed away about a month ago, I was saddened to hear that and he was obviously still coming to terms with it himself. He also told me that Ajay and Abhilasha (from Jaipur) had moved to Pune. We (Soma and I) went back to Jags from there and waited for the rest of the lads to turn up. Danny, Ajee and Anil were supposed to come back to his after a day out so we waited for them, but they were running late so we went over to Jagtars to surprise him. His whole family are here and they were a bit shocked to see me (see pic). We stopped there for dinner and came back to Jag's around 10pm. The lads turned up just as we were driving up to Jag's house, their car was behind mine and as I parked up and got out all hell broke loose when they saw me, the neighbours came out to see what all the commotion was about and everything!

We sat at Jags and caught up on stuff, it was great seeing them again and I probably would have stayed longer if Soma (the larry) wasn't giving me the nudge every five minutes. We left Jag's at 11.30pm and drove back to Pind. As you can imagine I'm feeling pretty tired right now, it's 12.30am and I should be in bed! It's been a day of sadness and joy, welcome back to the motherland!
