Day 64 Mon 2nd Jan 2006
Bhabi's Sisters Party
We had the first rainfall of the winter this morning, it was only a quick shower but still, it happened! We attended the party that Bhabi and the girls are here for today. Bhabi's sister had a baby boy a few months ago and on January the 13th it's Lori, this is where Punjabi people celebrate the birth of baby boy's. Families who have had a baby boy in the 12 months prior to that date will hold parties to celebrate the birth, these parties are called Shutty's. There are a lot of these coming up so I thought I'd explain it now and get it out of the way! The party was O.K., Soma Put his back out yesterday and I woke up at 11.30 this morning to a pounding head ache so none of us were really up for it. They had a really good Bhangra team there (see vid) but the DJ was a complete waist of time. The girls and Bhabi had a good time, they all looked beautiful in their new party outfits (see pics). On our way back home we stopped off at Nakodar to get some bits and pieces and came across some kids who were begging, we told them we were not going to give them any money but they could have some fruit and nuts we just brought, anyway we got talking a had a good laugh with them (see pic), it's nice that we got a chance to chill with them and get to see the mischievous side of them rather than just give them a rupee and let them move on, they were proper little characters! I'm sure we will see them again!
I have made a new years resolution, NO MORE LATE MORNINGS! They just mess up your whole day. From now on I will be up at 8 or 9 the latest!
