Day 13 Mon 3rd Oct 2005
I'll keep it short and sweet.
Sorry about the long entry yesterday, I'll try and keep it short and sweet today. We set off at 6.45am this morning for the Valley of the Kings, We had another larry guide today, I can't even remember his name, he was too serious and he wasn't feeling very well so he really didn't want to be there, and it showed. From the Valley of the Kings we went to the ............temple and then to the Valley of the Queens. The best thing we saw this morning was the Solar eclipse, I noticed when we came out of one of the tombs that there was a drop I temperature, I mentioned it to the guide and he told us about the Solar eclipse. We looked into the sun (of course, you should never do this with the naked eye) we saw the eclipse quite clearly. It was amazing to see the difference in temperature when the sun was partially covered.
We went back to Luxor for lunch, my shades fell of the table and broke, so much for treating myself! We went out of the hotel for lunch and found this nice little café in the middle of town. The food was good, I had a Tuna sandwich and salad. After lunch we went to the Karnak temple and Luxor Temple. We got back to the hotel around 4pm. The guide was a bit rude, he didn't even get out the taxi to say goodbye or anything, he was miserable little bugger! Mohammed took us to the bus station, we got on the bus to Hargada for 5pm and got here at 9.30pm, there were a lot of security checks along the way, we had to show our passports and got a bit annoying after the 3rd of 4th time. We were picked up at the station and taken to the hotel, it is not as nice as yesterday but it's new, you can still smell the paint. We went to eat at this local place, it was weird for a restaurant in a touristy place to have waitresses who cant speak English, AT ALL! Even if they couldn't speak English they were very forthcoming, we thought we were at an undercover brothel at times. Its now 2am and we are looking forward to a 6am start, nice!
