Sunday 14 February.

We were out at the bus stop at 9.20 for the airport bus that came every 20 minutes. At 10am I asked a local policeman if the buses were running today and he replied they certainly were. At 1030 they started blocking off the whole road for a cycle race, so much for the efficient bus system, so we opted for a taxi – this must have been another one of those 'lost in translation' moments but at least we arrived at the airport before check-in closed.

At check-in we were 2kg overweight across both cases. Now we’ve travelled all round the world with cases crammed to cope with all the climates involved and never been stopped with excess baggage. Now, with our criminal level of 2kg excess, we had to pay up before we would be given boarding passes. The cost for 2kg? 22 euros or nearly 5 UK pounds for each pound weight. Thanks Monarch, we’ll certainly consider you the next time we fly!

Going through a more stringent security check we had to remove coats, belts and boots. Straight to the gate and on to the plane, where we taxied out early and up into the cloudy skies.

A bit of a bumpy flight and then a slow descent to finally hear those six most dreaded words in the world, no, not "Hello darling, guess what, I’m pregnant" but “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Manchester!” As usual, as soon as the plane stopped everyone stood up and queued in the aisles and waited until the doors opened and we finally shuffled off the plane into the dull, grey Manchester skies but at least it wasn’t snowing.

Oh well, back to reality.

Reality??     Now I wonder what that’s going to be like? Oh well, we’ll see you again my friends for the next episode of ‘LOT’. What? Oh yes, ‘Lunatics On Tour’.

Have Fun.
