First spanner in the works! Our flight to from Gatwick to Houston was delayed by 2 hours which meant we would miss our flight from Houston to Quito! Wounder. Not to worry though, Continental put us up in a nice hotel at the airport so we got a chance to get over the jet lag by relaxing next to the pool and snoozing in our $300 room! Every cloud and all that...

We also had some stunning views of the homeland (i.e. Wales!) as we flew right down the centre of the Cornwall / Devon / Somerset peninsula on a relatively clear day. Tara: blah blah blah, great scenery but that means no one for me to talk to for a few hours!

How rubbish is US customs?! Unlike the checkouts at Tesco, they don't open up another checkout when a queue develops and we had to wait for 50 minutes just to get attitude from the customs officials. They even take your fingerprint and photo! When I asked the guy, "How long is it before this data gets destroyed?" he just laughed. "This is being kept by Uncle Sam, dude. This stuff'll probably never get destroyed!". Comforting.
