Where I stayed
Out of the 70 odd participants, more than 45 of us were in the Thai Airways flight from Bangkok. Some others from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Australia and USA arrived in different flights. Den pasar airport looks small by international standards but has all the amenities one expects. Tourist visa is issued on arrival at a fee of US $ 25 per head (this can be paid in US $). We were greeted by Bali girls with flower garlands and whisked off in individual cars to the Hotel. Hotel Melia Bali is situated in the Nusa Dua (Twin Beach?) tourist area. The hotel had a special banner welcoming the IIMA Batch of 1971. One can not but note the subtle security checks which have become a mandatory drill the world over.
The check in for such a large group was fast and efficient as they had all the details and the room allocation was already done.
The hotel property was sprawling and impressive. They had ethnic Bali icons all over.
A refreshing high tea was offered immediately on check in at the garden cafe.
