Have you ever feeling like you were paying top dollar for a place to stay?
Would prefer to pay what you think it is worth?

Well, now you have your chance. Admittedly this is promotion for a certain hotel chain, and there are certain conditions.

And you have to be going to Singapore.

So what's the deal? Singapore Ibis, which usually costs about $100US a night, is giving prospective guests the chance to bid for rooms. You have to log on to their promo site and they only give the chance to get a bargain certain times each day.

The site? www.paywhatyouwant.com.sg

What's their reason? "This is, to a certain extent, in response to the global financial crisis, but it is also the best way to measure what the market is willing to pay," said marketing director Hiro Inoue. "We expected people to start bidding at a dollar or so, but we've been getting bids of $70 and $80, which is a pleasant surprise and which had made us feel more confident that guests appreciate our services," he told Reuters.

The French chain is also considering extended the deal to other hotels in its group.

We should expect more of these deals as hotels feel the pinch as fewer business travelers travel. And those that do look for cheaper digs.
