This morning I said goodbye to my Aunt. She is leaving for the Outer Banks today for a Lil vacation.
I left her place and decided to head over to Canal Fulton to check out another area I grew up in. Canal Fulton built up along the Ohio Erie Canal.  One of the canal locks is near my old house I lived in in the early 1980's. When i was younger i took a ride on one of the canal boats. It was a lot of fun... for a elementary school child.  I mean we were in a boat pulled by a mule. poor mule.

I left the lock and met up with my buddy Mark. Another guy i have known since  wow..... a long time ago.  We met through a girlfriend of mine of whom he was dating at the time. Same girl as Ryan but at different times... I think? they might have shared. I honestly don't remember. He is going to kill me for that one. :)
We met up at Panera and grabbed some lunch and talked story for a bit. Took a Lil road trip.. just like the old days. Which included some world class karaoke. Thank you Peter Cetera. Our road trip took us up to Kent, a quick 15 minute trip up to visit my ala mater.

For those of you who don't know Kent State University is renowned for their nursing program... as well as a few shootings that happened there on May 4, 1970. Antiwar protesting led to the National Guard being called to campus for riot control.... shots rang out... leaving four students dead, one paralyzed, and eight others wounded. Those shots ended the lives of four students Jeffrey Miller, Allison Krause, William Schroeder, and Sandra Scheuer.  This started as a peaceful demonstration ending in a massacre. Neil Young penned the lyrics to the song Ohio, a requiem for that fateful day. Listen to it, I'm sure some of you have heard it.
We journey through Kent and stopped downtown at Spin - More records.  An old haunt that we have gone to several times. Classic, out-of-print, rare hard to find vinyl, 45's, 8 tracks, cassettes, and cd's can be found here. Mark really broadened my musical horizon. He introduced me to a multitude of great singers and bands (Chicago, Annie Lennox, Depeche Mode, REM, and of course Culture Club).  After more then an hour in the store (and alot of Bee Gee's) we stopped down by Rays for a drink. Great bar I used to hang out at in college. http://www.raysplacekent.com/

We returned to Canton and said our goodbyes. Definitely had an amazing afternoon. It was very nostalgic just settling into old but good times.
I met up with Shana at her place that night. We went down the road to a local Mexican joint and had some great food.  I can't believe how cheap this place is. I mean very affordable, our bill was less then $30 for both of us and tip.  We checked out the movie Waitress. A Lil independent flick about a waitress who finds out she is pregnant by her prick overpossesive husband, has an affair with her GYN.... I'm sorry to give it away but she gets rid of the husband... thank god. That would have been so depressing if she hadn't.
