I woke up in the morning to grab a quick workout. The Crown Plaza had a nice gym with your nautilus equipment as well as cardio and free weights. I really have not had much of a chance to work out. I miss it. All I do is sit in the car all day drive and eat. That is not physically exerting. I enjoyed a bit of time in the sauna as well before I had to pick up my stuff and head out.
I found a Scottish restaurant in the area, called the Scottish Arms. I figured I have not had that type of food... in 14 years so I dropped in. The inside of the restaurant was of dark stained oak, tartans and plaques on the walls, and my fave... a bartender in a Kilt. I ordered myself some haggis and sat down for a bit more blogging.

I left the bar and St. Louis for that matter and continued on my trek. I am heading up to Madison, Wisconsin to visit my friend Keith. I met him years ago at the Banana Bungalow on Maui. We have kept in contact; recently he dropped me a line saying whenever I was in the area to give him a buzz. So I buzzed back asking him what he was doing for the weekend. So now, I am on my way up to cheese head country.
Illinois has been a fun drive though. People are literally flying by me going 90+ mph.
I had a bit of a narrow escape with the cops. The car in front of me was doing about 90... I was behind him at 80... I saw the cop turn out... I got the hell off the highway luckily there was an exit right there. Unfortunately the poor soul behind me was stopped. I know the Celica is conspicuous, but there have been people driving a lot faster than I do and you never see them get caught. Oh well.. I watched myself after that.

Once I got close to the border of Wisconsin, I ran into some rain. Not bad actually it is the first time I have had that since a bit in Oregon. After about 45 minutes, it cleared up.
I finally reached Keith's place about 7pm. We went out to the Great Dane in Madison for some dinner. http://www.greatdanepub.com/  We got him a Growler. I figured since he had never seen one before he needed one. The problem with that is that we had 5 minutes to get it back in Madison you cannot by containers of alcohol after nine. More money for the bars right? Our server rushed the Growler out to us and we took it back to the truck for ... later.
Grabbed a Monte Cristo for dinner... oh so delicious. I had a great time catching up. It has been like 2 years since we had last hung out.
After that, we stop by another bar.... Er name escapes me..... Met up with some of his friends. They were all really chill just sat back and relaxed... One of the girls lit some popcorn on fire accidentally we did some damage control, so did not burn the place down. Went to another Great Dane (it is a chain) met up with some more of Keith's friends. I was rather exhausted from a long day of driving so we returned to his apartment, chilled out with the growler, and watched some Harold and Kumar.
