Today, we headed over to Kjell and Wenche's house for a dinner with the whole Ravnaas clan. It was wonderful to have everyone at one (very long) table. And we were all relieved when Wenche annouced that they were going to skip the "middle" dessert course. Whew!

After dinner, we headed downstairs to watch a DVD of the local school production of Grease (in norwegian), with Ola playing Vince Fontaine. His pompadour hairdo was simply magnificent.

And then it was off to Gjermund and Tove's house for a reunion of the Svigermorsdrom. Jannic and Tracey were in town, and Martin, Siri, Erik, Annette, Skjalg and Anne-Mai all came over as well. The last time we saw the house, it was just barely dry-walled, and all the fixtures and finishing touches were not done yet. It turned out beautifully, and Tove had her Santa collection arranged throughout the house. We were soon drinking and dancing, teasing Siri about the whipped cream incident at the last reunion, and getting a quick peek at Skjalg's new tattoo.

We finally caught a cab home around 3am, caught a little bit of sleep before we had to get up, finish packing and head to the airport. Turns out we had the same flight to Copenhagen as Kari, our favorite doctoral student in Seattle; so we spent some time in the airport lounge sharing holiday stories. We split up in Copenhagen since she was going to visit a friend in Malmo, just across the bridge in Sweden.

With more than a 2 hour layover, I really tried to find something to buy in the huge duty-free mall at the Copenhagen airport. But you know, it's not often I need to stock up furs, purses, perfumes, cigarettes or booze. Eventually, it was time to get on board; the flight was smooth and uneventful. Ten hours later we were walking in the door and greeted by a certain pudgy pissed-off pussycat. Yes, the holiday with family was great, but it's good to be home.
