Day 20 - October 6
Into California before 10!! The bicycle route followed flat, back roads into Cresent City. Brian and I found a Grocery Outlet and went to town. We got a ton of food for $12 and then headed over to the visitor's center to check out where the free camping was. The ranger advised us that the trail head to our campsite was known for some sketchy people and car break-ins. We decided against the campsite and headed to the hostel on the other side of the 1000 foot climb lying between us: 6 miles up and 6 miles down...woohoo! We got the last two beds at the hostel and got a discount for being on bicycles so I was happy! Finally a hostel that didn't seem so strange. We still met an interesting array of people, but we had a good time raiding the free food shelf, hanging out with the other visitors, and the free pancake mix this morning. Definitely fans of Redwood Hostel. 45 mile day.
