Finally, a belated update on our first trip to the Caribbean coast in October. Here we saw green turtles lay eggs and saw babies hatch and make their long uncertain journey into the ocean. Watch the video! So cute. So vulnerable. Tortuguero is the Caribbean's most important breeding ground for the green turtle. And, of the world's eight species of sea turtle, four lay their eggs in Tortuguero. An early morning kayak ride on canals running through the rainforest provided more wildlife spotting opportunities including lots of cool birds whose names I can't remember, a caiman (mini croc), and lots of monkeys. Check out the pics of the monkey in the tree with her baby.
