On The Good Shepherd since Feb 28 -14 days - We leave Boracay at 1:15 Monday, so there are only 5 days left. At times it is pretty boring to sit on a wooden platform with a deisel engine rumbling rumbling constantly shaking teeth and brains. Other times it is hilarious fun, and always a changing Beauty. A paradise in which to live, yet food and shelter are not easy for local people (pax means people - '30 pax on the boat').
Here are some more thoughts originally sent to my friend Rich:
Hi!
On the boat with nothing to do, Manda & the crew are doing all the video & GPS. I'm watching the White clouds & Blue water. 14 days straight of what I always wanted to do -- float around in the ocean. I can't Imagine being at sea for months at time. Sometimes I have a flash of dread about doing it again the next day. But my oh my how beautiful all around us. The picture attached is the saiboat that just went by. Here is Panay I'm watching now --(phone pix).
Any way, the tech qeustion -- what is the fastest way to find a specific calendar date and time (hour-minute-second) on about 25 hours of tape? -- using SMPTE time code?
ACW (Manda) has over 1500, yes 1500, GPS waypoints and each one has several seconds of video related to it (pix of the ocean floor).
After doing the transfer to burn the date & time onto the picture, can we(or you ?:) calculate some "timecode offset" to enable fast searching?

In some ways I am pretty ready to come home - have seen the same stretch of ocean daily for 2 weeks. I'm also sure I will be very sad to leave what looks like Paradise, but really can be a tough place in which to survive, let alone flourish.
So I'll come home to fix leaking tubs after this? (I had 2 emails already.) Blest to have the work and comfortable home and loving partner and Wife in Kay.
'Till Next Time !
Peace
-----Hank
