Indian anomalies
Kristina and John,
Thanks for the reports from the travel front....glad to know you are (generally) healthy and happy. On your way to Nepal, you may want to think about visiting Simla (Shimla) and Chandigahr.....according to friends, these are fascinating, and very un-Indian places. Simla is the old British raj summer colony, and is apparently very beautiful; Chandigahr was Nehru's prototype city for what he wanted the rest of India to be: rational, modern and stylish. The whole town was designed by the French architect Le Corbusier, and something seems to have worked: the Indians there have the highest literacy/educational levels in India.
Keep those posts coming,
love, (Kristina's) Dad
Unfriendly Mombai
There was a newspaper article recently over here that claimed that the residents of Mumbai were the least friendly of any city in the world. I'm sure it's total bull, but....
Still jealous of u two, even your intestinal episodes of which I had only a few, very minor outbursts in SEAsia. Looks amazing over there, better than rainy Southampton (I'm at school now).
unfriendly mumbai
I'd be interested to know if that poll was taken before or after the bombings. We didn't really notice much difference there in their friendliness level. We did see a lot more poverty there...of the worst kind than we see in Bangalore though.
