Where I stayed

I'm so not liking the fact we're leaving Sarawak tomorrow. There's still so many things to do, so many places yet to venture. 4 days isn't enough, trust me. Alright, well all I can do now is to make full use of the time I've left. Moving on . .

We woke up bright and early and quickly dressed ourselves in proper swimming attire. After breakfast, we took an hour's drive to Borneo Highlands. Two Pajero Cars brought us to the destination. Along the way we managed to see wonderful views and sceneries. Especially the mountains. The initial plan was a kayaking trip to the Wind's Cave, but ever since the cave was blocked, you might have guessed, it won't be as windy as it supposed to be. Some rock fall blocked the cave at the other end. We could have kayak-ed our way through, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

I managed to grab a kayak with the male tour guide, Uncle Jackson. He and his wife, Aunty Ivy, also our photographer, guided us through. The first few minutes was more to nature and wild life. We observed different kinds of plants and bamboo trees. Uncle Jackson allowed me to float through a distance while he handled the kayak. The first attraction was the amazing rocks. How some looked like faces of people, animals, a man peeping from a hole, rhinos, etc. Our imaginations were running wild. We also captured magnificent views of mountains that looked like bells. Then came the best part of the trip, the turbalence. It was some rough waves out there. Really thrilled us all.

Something like the Mini Version of White Water Rafting, which we planned to do sometime. Water came rushing in and all we did was put up our paddles and enjoy the ride. Exciting ride down, fast paced haha. Something I miss the most now that I'm back in the hotel.

Next was lunch stop, which was just 10 minutes away. We stopped and ate our lunch by the side. We had Beriyani Chicken and Mutton plus DURIAN for dessert. Not forgetting bananas and banana fritters. After re-energising ourselves with food, we went out to venture the wild again.

This time we were guided to a cave, also known as the Skull Cave. Once we entered the dark cave, we looked up and saw two holes up on the cave. We were under the jungle! How cool was that? It was AWESOME. Some good fun. It was small tho. Once we were out of the cave, it started to drizzle, and it got heavier.

So the water level rised which made everything much more easier as we followed the river. We stopped by to try climb up some liana vines there. Something Tarzan would enjoy doing. After countless attempts, we gave up and headed for the big rock where we settled for group pictures. Sadly, we had to end the whole trip in just 3 hours. We were recommended to try the 5 hour trip and also the 2 days 1 night trip. Hopefully the next time round perhaps.

Uncle Jackson and Aunty Ivy are really adventurous. Tho they're old at age, they're still young at heart. Nature's their living, I guess. Overall, I enjoyed the trip very much. It was worth RM 188 per person! Borneo, there's still more to see.

Tomorrow we're only left with 8 hours to spend. I'm guessing some last minute shopping. Hopefully, we'll be able to wake up on time, considering our muscles are starting to ache already. Tired but satisfied!
