Hi Everyone,
Well we are 4 days in, sitting in a lovely air conditioned internet cafe in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
Well lets start at the beginning!
Day 1: We flew from Heathrow to Nairobi, no hiccups and got on the ground in time for a tropical rain shower to make sure that we started doubting if we were in the right place! Had a quick moment of panic when we couldn't remember the name of the campsite we were staying at for the visa form, but they didn't even look at it anyway - they just wanted our money! Overland club picked us up at the airport and took us to meet our group so nice easy start!
.
Day 2: First day tour meeting then off to see baby elephants in an orphanage and then to feed the giraffes at a park, then its onto a truck (not the one we're supposed to have but it got us on the road) to drive to Lake Naivasha via Elsamere the home of Joy Adams, of Born free fame. Because we'd spent time waiting for our truck which still didn't arrive we were late into the campsite and so put up our tents (again not the ones we were supposed to have) in the dark
Day 3 was an early start, for a wildlife walkOur real truck had showed up by now so we spent some time sorting that out and then drive down the road to a wildlife reserve to do some spotting! 2 minutes into the walk and we had already seen Antelope, and Zebra, and five minutes in there were several Giraffes just standing watching us approach.] It was amazing, we walked out onto a plain down by the lake and there were Giraffes, Zebra, waterbuck and antelope as far as we could see. the animals were amazingly easy to approach, and I took some amazing photos, unfortunately my 2gig memory card i bought just before i left doesn't work and so i've had to borrow one from someone, and carry ipod everywhere so i can download them as often as need by! Then we just drove to another lake (lake Baringo) and got eaten alive by mossies as we once again put up our tents in the dark! also managed to puncture one of our thermerests on the nasty acacia spike but hamish's awesome repair is holding out.
Today we have just spent driving from somewhere called Turbo, across the border from Kenya into Uganda, now in Kampala and heading to Entebbe shortly.
right thats enough waffle, hope you are all well!
