We had a call last night saying that many of the 323 tents given to the disaster relief agency in Wudu (oo-doo) were not being distributed because they were having trouble figuring out how to set them up. These tents were part of the mixed-tent shipment that Team 3 received when the initial batch of proper ShelterBox tents were exhausted.
We drove up to Wudu today - about 2 hours of FAST driving and met with the local Communist Party officials and the town's administrators. Were were given a tour of several villages who had recieved some of the tents and the villagers were very apreciative.
We then went to the warehouse and found the remaining 150 tents and ehped them pair the tents with pole packages and then organize them for shipment. Once we got them organized, village leaders came by and picked up several loads of varying numbers of tents. Hot work in +30C temperatures but we got them out of there and into people's hands in only a few hours while they had been sitting in the warehouse for over5 days.
We are hoping our ~730 tents arrive by trainin Chengdu tomorrow.
