There are no pictures of our stay in Eilat. We crossed the border from Jordan and were met by our driver; Sipi. This is the name of Moses' first wife. She took us to the hotel. It was the bottom of the barrel as 2 star hotels go, though the manager had some lively conversation about his 30 years in Israel. [He never was in Jordan or Egypt! just Eilat]. The restaurant at the hotel was the "Mamman Sea Food Restaurant', where for 50 shekels, you could try and gag down fish from the steam table. There was no airconditioning and when I tried to take a cold shower, there was no cold, or even cool, water to be had. We had good pizza next door, and the money changer had no Egyptian pounds, though the country is right next door. Even the Russian hookers were nasty, so we bid a hasty exit the next morning, never to return. We did meet some interesting people at the bus station; 3 Mexican kids that had missed the last bus of the day for Jerusalem. We told them our room was unbearable so they could not crash with us, and wished them well. As we walked across the no-mans-land at the border, we were reminded that signs indicating the presence of land mines, were there for a reason. Pictures would have been great, albeit, forbidden.
