We originally had planned to stay in Prague for 4 nights, but met some people that said we had to visit Karlovy Vary. A small spa town with healing thermal waters. This sold us, so we booked another night and a day trip there. Karlovy Vary is also the town where Queen Latifa's movie the Last Holiday was filmed at the Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. Most recently Casino Royale filmed here as well.

We got up nice and early for our pick up, making sure to pack our bathing suits for the thermal pools. There was a hot tub and sauna in our hotel but it cost like $60 for an hour. Like really, have you heard of a hotel charging for the hot tub. Ridiculous. Anyway, we had been craving a soak in a tub as the weather had been a wee bit chilly.

Our guide Martin picked us up we realized that we had a private tour. Score!

The ride to Karlovy vary was just over an hour long and our driver gave us some history on the Czech Republic.

The town was beautiful. It had a river running through it and beautiful architecture. Our guide gave us a tour of the city. When we got to the Chateauneuf-Du-Pape I was surprised at how small it looked. In the movie it looked like this ginormous hotel and in real life looked tiny. Well, not tiny, but I had expected bigger. Also in the movie it's on this mountain will no other building nearby, real life it has a building standing right next to it.

We toured the town and drank from the healing water fountains. You can buy these cheesy cups to drink out of, but mom and I just cupped our hands. The water tasted foul. It was warm and tasted like nasty rusty nails. We tried a little from each one, but we did not like it. But hey, they were healing waters right, so we had to drink it. ;)

Later we stopped for lunch. I had the beef goulash and it was awesome! Yummy yummy!

After lunch we got a couple hours of free time. We immediately went to the hot springs pool. We were waiting in line and found out that, the pool was closed for repairs! Gutted! We were so looking forward to it and its pretty much the only reason we decided to go there. :(

However it was not the end of the world. We made the best of it and wandered the streets. We found a beautiful church and mom lit a candle.

It turned out to be a nice afternoon.

Back at the hotel we decided to bite the bullet and pay for the hotel hot tub. We had wanted a soak, so we were gonna get it. We booked the hot tub from 9-10 pm so we could get our stuff organized and be ready for bed after our soak.

Well. The soak was not meant to be, as when we arrived to the hot tub it was cold :( a huge disappointment. We decided to make use of the sauna but that didn't last long. We ended up going back to our room and I just had a bath. There was no healing waters, but at that point I didn't care. I was soaking in a tub. Lol.
