So today was the day.  We were hiking to the top of Mt. Washington.  The weather looked good and we were off.  We decided to take the trails best for the dogs.  I don't know if there is any good trail.  They all go up and they are all on rocks.  So we started of from Pinkham Notch visitors center.  We started on the Tuckerman Ravine Trail.  This is the most popular way so it is usually crowded.  There could have not been more than ten people on it until we took the split.  So up two miles after about 1:45 hours we split off on the Lion Head Trail.  This of course after reading a sign saying there have been bears in the area and they have taken backpacks from hikers as the walked up if they did not properly store their food. And no we did not properly store our food.  So we head up the Lion Head.  We had 1.6 more miles until we would meet up with the Tuckerman Ravine trail again.  This was a pretty strenuous trail with a lot of scrambles over rocks.  There was a time we had encounter a pretty bad smell (urine) and a lot of flies.  I really thought there had to be a bear near by or that we were treading on his territory.  Once we re-entered the Tuckerman Ravine we encountered more people.  This again was all still rock climbing.  We met a woman, Marge who was almost at the top and was thinking of going down, bad news, very painful to go down.  She joined us since she noticed I was not the strongest at this and I kept on going up.  Well once I noticed the cars at the top I knew I was close.  Let me tell you it was not easy.  Every 30 feet or so I had to stop and catch my breath.  I was exhausted.  My legs had nothing left in them.  When we got up top the weather was still good but boy is it windy up there.  We took some pictures and took the hiker shuttle down the Auto Road.  Now that is also another experience as it is almost a winding two lane road with traffic going up and down for eight miles.  Got back to Pinkham Notch and headed back to the hotel for a shower and rest.

Hi Haifa,
I heard all about this trip through Leila, which was sort of like story time each day for me. "What new adventure has Haifa encountered?" What a vacation and what an accomplishment! I enjoyed reading your daily log and looking at your pictures. Thanks for sharing!
