It has been a really great couple of days.
Sunday, after our canoe down the Murray and relaxing afternoon, I had an unbelievable meal at the Barlows house. A beautiful roast lamb, and scalloped potatoes, and salad, a bottle of wine I brought from my wine tasting out west, a outdoor setting with the breeze finally coming in...it was a really lovely meal.
Eliza and I stuck around that night and got up early in the morning to drive down to Bendigo. I caught a bit more of a glimpse at the Victorian countryside (though no more Roos). We arrived and I saw Bree- Eliza's housemate and an old camp friend
When Eliza and Bree finished class we all hung out for awhile- we went to get takeaway and ate it in the park and I got a bit of a glimpse at the small, historic town of Bendigo. That evening, we practiced my favorite new trick of sucking a hot drink through a tim tam and just sat arond. In the typical college lifestyle, there were lots of people around dropping in and out. Eventually the guitar was handed over to me and we had a bit of a singalong. A really fun evening overall.
I just puttered around most of the morning- reading my book in the sunshine while the others were in class. We all met up for lunch and then they took me to the train station and I was on my way! Back on (the) track, so to speak.
I arrived to Geelong station yesterday evening and was greeted by Kevin Flanagan! We walked back to their place. Holly, Kevin and I had a nice meal before being joined by Pete and Sally for a few drinks. It was great to catch up with everybody.
I was planning on going down the Great Ocean Road today but it wasn't going to work out to well and Kevin was planning on surfing in the morning....so...thats what I did this morning. We spent a few hours out in the waves. We had a few boogie boards and one surf board- the waves weren't great for a short board (and I can't do much on a short board) but we had a great time out there anyway with the boogie boards. I haven't boogie boarded in a long time- it was great to get back to my roots. Yeah, so it was a great morning. Tomorrow I am booked for a tour down the Great Ocean Road- should be a lot of fun. Then I will catch up with a few more friends in Melbourne before heading out to Sydney on Friday!
