We woke up late and had a lazy morning lying around, having showers and cleaning up our act while we awaited for the return of our friends; Brett (whom Tim met in 1995 when he started teaching in Maine) his wife Sara, and their children Mia (11) and Eli (7). In order to avoid future confusion, while we are in Weld Eli Shifrin will be "Little E" and Eli Heidmann "Big E". Just as we were sitting down for lunch, the Shifrins all arrived home and there was general hubbub as we greeted each other, hugged each other and all clamored at the same time in order to be heard. By the time the reconvening had taken place, the kids were ready for an activity and Sara took them to the local lake, Weld Lake, and the corresponding beach, Dummers. Brett, Tim and Jess stayed home to clean up and Brett started and continued in what would be a recurring theme for our time in Weld; baking bread and cookies. Today, we were also creating a lemon, blueberry cake with a buttercream frosting. While the cake was cooling, we went down to join the rest of the crew at the beach and all had a quick swim and then returned home for a wonderful dinner of homemade pizza. Kids and grown-ups hung out and after the kids went to bed, we began our nightly ritual of playing board games. Tonight was Monopoly and it went down as one of the quickest games in history and before you knew it, Tim was victorious.
Adult game tally: Tim 1, Brett 0, Jess 0, and Sara 0.
