Today we had to farewell our luxurious accomodations, our good friends, and most of all miss out on the fish themed dinner that the Chef was planning. This pain was eased by the knowledge that in a few short hours we would see Tim's Brother, Uncle Pete, and stay with him in his house in Bozeman for a week. Uncle Pete is an Internal Medicine Equine Veterinarian and the owner/head Vet of Montana Equine, a business he started from scratch and has slowly grown over time into what looks like, from our eyes at least, a huge success. But aside from all of that, Uncle Pete is our family and we were all excited to see him. So saying our goodbyes to Flathead Lake, we were on the road by 10am for the five hour drive to Bozeman. Just ten minutes down the road beside the lake, we were treated to the sight of a bald eagle winging its way overhead. We all had a good look and it seemed to set the tone for another fun/rewarding day ahead.
There was nothing of consequence that happened during the drive except for the time we had to quickly pull to the side of the road because of the large size hailstones that suddenly fell from the sky and which stopped two minutes later. It sure felt like Christchurch with three seasons in a day. We arrived at Uncle Pete's house at the same time as he was arriving home from work. Hugs were issued and received, a niece and nephew cuddled and beers cracked in celebration. We quickly got down to the business of catching up and he showed us around the house he is completely remodeling. It is in the final stages of being completed and it was the first time that Jess and the kids had seen his house and all were suitably impressed. We cooked dinner on the bbq and ended up sitting around a fire in the backyard until late in the evening just catching up. When you remodel your home, there is no end to the scrap timber that is available to burn. We stumbled to bed and zzzzzzzzz.
