On the road again.....North we go

Too soon we woke up and headed out into another day of Vancouver rain in order to begin the process of reloading Odie. She had certainly enjoyed her week of carting 7-8 people around Vancouver and a break from having her back end loaded full of camping gear. Fortunately, everything slotted neatly back in place and we had the unenviable task of hugging and farewelling Ben, Fiona Lucas and Felix. As I have said a number of times, this was an amazing week and while we were excited to be back on the road again and seeing new parks, we were most sad that this family time had come to an end. Never mind.........the great thing about family is we will always see them again. We stopped at Solly's (the Jewish bakery) for cinnamon buns and then at Fujiya for lunch sushi before fighting traffic east out of Vancouver. This task was made a bit more complicated by the pouring rain that we endured for most of today's drive. We made it to Kamloops around 2pm but the rain was still coming and with more rain forecast before clearing overnight, we decided to book a hotel further up the road in Clearwater. This would allow us to get closer to Jasper National Park, tomorrow's destination, have a roof over our heads for a good night's sleep and head into the next three national parks with dry gear and sunny weather forecast to last for the coming week. We rolled into our hotel around 5 pm, had a nice dinner in our motel kitchen and watched some tv and chilled out before turning in.
