Where I stayed
What I did
After a cool and breezy night, we woke around 7am, had breakfast, packed up Odie and said our goodbyes to the kids' new friend, Eli, and his parents, Dave and Dawn whom we have exchanged email addresses with. They claim that they want to come to New Zealand someday and we said they are welcome to come and visit, we will see as NZ often is too far away for people to follow through on their plans and arrive.
So on the road again and off to the Grand Canyon we went. It was a long and windy drive which was punctuated by the occasional amazing vista. Today that sight was the Glen Canyon Dam which resulted in Lake Powell. We stopped at the Visitor Center and then walked across the bridge which had the impressively tall dam on one side and and the low river on the other, which people were busy exploring on inflatable rubber rafts.
After enjoying the sights, (Eli was really impressed by walking on the bridge) we pushed on to the Grand Canyon. We checked into our cabin at the Maswik Lodge in the middle of the afternoon and then completely fluffed out. Jess sat at the Laundromat and cleaned our clothes, we all had showers (the first in several days) and then relaxed in and around the cabin for the remainder of the afternoon. We headed down to the lodge for a pizza dinner and then tucked into bed early for a full day exploring the Grand Canyon tomorrow.
