The theme continues to be...."Go hard or stay home!"

We were at the entrance to the park at 9am sharp, bought our tickets and took the pictures of "Ka Mate" our kiwi mascot at the entrance itself. We were in luck as there were quite small crowds and queues at the park. A combination of midweek, during the school term and heavy rain forecast meant that we seldom had to wait more than 5 minutes for any one ride in the park. What fun we had riding, nearly every ride in the park. Some were more popular than others, depending on perspective. It is safe to say that the Indiana Jones ride was only liked by Tim, and widely condemned by the others. We all enjoyed Peter Pan, Mr Toad's House, Roger Rabbit, Small World, etc.... The slower rides that emphasised stories based on movies were well received and only Dad and occasionally Lily and even more occasionally Eli liked the more adrenaline based experiences.

We stayed until just before 7pm, bought some dinner from Tortilla Joe's in Disneytown and then ran back to the hotel to catch the shuttle to LAX. We checked in, waited until 11:45pm and then flew to New York City on the overnight red-eye, arriving at 7:49am after all sleeping for a couple of hours. We were met by an uber-excited Gramma who had been up herself since 4:30 in the morning. We drove home, stopping at a diner where the kids had hot chocolate and belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. We made it to Gramma's house where we were able to see all the amazing work she had done in her house, the two new bedrooms in the basement and the amazing looking property in the middle of a spring bloom.

The kids played boardgames and ate popcorn with Gramma while Jess and I began to unpack and determine what we needed for our upcoming road trip. We had a lovely dinner of fresh shrimp and pasta and are now in the process of trying to stay awake until 8pm when we will crash in bliss in the basement and get a full night's sleep.

More to come soon........
