Back to mobile Odyssey life in the driveway of Jess and Aaron's just-closed-on "starter' home. On the way over we were treated to lunch at the famous "Portillo's", perhaps the next best sandwich to Glacier Pork barbeque.

But this house - I think they found the short sale of the decade. I'm very happy for the newlyweds, but sorry for the family who lost it - we were pretty close to the same situation as well. Not out of the woods yet!

The house is only 10 years old and is large, well constructed and in a lovely country road setting yet convenient  for Jess & Aaron's daily lives and close enough to family.

Managed to make a day's work of some "fixits" on the new house, although it didn't need much, and we prepared to depart Chicago with more great memories, great feelings and enough gas to get us to Ann Arbor, Michigan.

We were able to fit all the boxes from Jodi & Tom’s foyer and Dining Room into the Toy Hauler…. A ton and a half of Wedding Gifts plus what Jess and Aaron had needed during the past 7 months of living in Wheaton while house hunting after their wedding…

It was hard to say good-bye to our Odyssey Home in Wheaton but wandered over to the new house while they were doing the walk-through and signing papers….

We unloaded the boxes into the echoingly empty house and planted a few of our mobile home chairs as well. We brought in a few of the conveniences one has when they are on the road for 6 months!  (Coffee maker.... coffee maker.... Coffee maker...)

There were no beds or any furniture yet for that matter in the house so we stayed in our portable home listening to the election results (on a weak at best Chicago station) on the radio…as it turns out the former owners only ever had "Dish TV" so there was no cable or wireless...and it would be at least a week.

Crazy to be here in Chicago where the President and family will celebrate and just 3o minutes away.  However, as those early returns came it appeared for a while that it was going to be a long night….but not so. The race Presidential race was called about 11 PM Central time. I then put on the headphones and Mallery's iPod which will be my next post... there is a story that goes with that...

We had a great time helping with the move. Jodi Tom & Kym all came back over with dinner and beer and wine and more funWe were happy to be part of the excitement and energy surrounding the newlywed’s new home-ownership! There is always action and activity in this family. School, business, athletics, social life…and we loved feeling welcome and being included.
