I have decided that this week is not nearly enough time to see this country. My time here this time is more about unwinding after 6 weeks in India. I was tempted to get off the plane and head straight for a beach. I'm glad I saw a little more, and what I've seen has made me realize I must come back to this country--there is so much to do and see.
But now I am on a beautiful little beach called Unawatuna Beach. My friend Sarah, who I met in Nepal last year, is here. I knew she was here and was planning on calling her after a stroll down the beach, but I ran into her on the beach instead--perfect!!

I am spending the rest of this trip here practicing my surfing skills! The surfing at this beach is good, but it is right over coral--not so good for a beginner like me. Instead I take rickshaw rides to close by beaches like Hikkaduwa and Weligama.

Every evening there is a group of us who head to the end of the beach where the waves crash into the rocks and watch the sunset.

All good things must come to an end, so I enjoyed my last sunset and party night and headed back home.
