Since Tonga is practically on top of the dateline, the people in this country are the first to see the sun rise on the new day! I would have liked to stay in Vava'u longer, but due to flight schedules I had to get here a couple of days before my international flight out. I did an island tour one day. According to the guide, this is the only multiheaded palm tree in the world, it apparently proves that I was indeed in Tonga.
The coastline is dramatically beautiful here with waves crashing into rocks creating blowholes, high cliffs, and white sandy beaches.
I got to see a cool beach cave at one spot. They aren't really sure what the original use of this trilithon was. Some say it was a gate to the kings house years ago, others think it is some sort of Stonehenge type calendar thing. Cool looking thing anyway! After the island tour I spent my last day here hanging on a beach.
