Diving on the Great Barrier Reef

Diving on the Great Barrier Reef! This was something I was definitely looking forward to! I was told by others to do a live aboard to get farther out and away from all of the day trip tours. I did that but we had a transfer boat coming to the live aboard every so turns out we weren't really that much farther away. I admit, I've been getting quite spoiled diving in Asia, so I was a bit disappointed by the Great Barrier Reef. Most of the coral was dead. I heard a couple of theories why this is so. Some say because it is over-visited, others say it is higher water temperatures caused by global warming killing the coral. Whatever the reason, it was not what I expected. There was some nice marine life to see however.
