We arrived in San Jose and after checking into our hostel decided to walk around and find a place for dinner.

Vic and I chose not to visit the museums in town, I had alredy seen them and together we've seen SO MANY since we started this trip.

Since this was our second trip to Costa Rica, our main reason for stopping in San Jose was to visit my house parents that I stayed with while I studied spanish in Costa Rica. We took the bus to the town of Alajuela first thing the next morning and easily found the house where I stayed. The house was closed up and looked like it had been vacant for quite awhile. We went around to a couple of nieghbors and asked if anybody knew where they were or what has happened to them. We finally found a few people who knew. The story is that Oscar and Vivian had gotten a divorce about 3 years ago (he is 72 and she is 48) and Vivian moved back to her familie's house and Oscar moved to another town close by with his sister. It was sad to see the place looking so run down and empty, knowing that I had spent a great 3 months there with them.

We returned back to San Jose and spent the last part of the afternoon walking around the central market and people watching in the park.
